I’m Claudia, an Aucklander currently working as a doctor in Melbourne. I started The Brick Kitchen after my first year of university to record my favourite recipes and as a creative outlet from anatomy and physiology lectures, and now work intermittently as a food photographer and recipe developer alongside medicine. I’ve documented my favourites here, from indulgent weekend projects to more wholesome weeknight dinners. There are also a few travel/food guides to cities I’ve visited in recent years.
I’ve been told my interest in food has been evident all my life: that even at 6 weeks old I would drool over whatever my parents were eating, and by 2 years was happily crawling uninvited into other people’s pantries. My mother and grandmother introduced me to baking basics young, with chocolate chip cookies and jam stars on regular rotation. I now have a small library of recipe books which constantly take up space on our kitchen counter, am obsessed with sourdough and croissants and kimchi and chilli oil, and love to feed everyone around me, whether that’s cookies at work or Sunday night dinner parties.
